subject: Requesting Letter of Recommendation
I know it's been a while since I checked in, but I won't bother with the small talk because I know this is a busy time for you. I'm looking into Graduate School at the University of Colorado Boulder. The Journalism and Mass Media program requires three letters of recommendation, which would normally be written by professors and focusing on academia, but because I completed my undergraduate degree with an emphasis on advertising and the artistic side of design work and not the content side, I wanted to show how versatile my portfolio has become.
I thought my internship and later employment with SXSW, Inc. was a good indication of that versatility, and who better to speak of that than the woman who decided to hire me on after that internship ended? Your faith in my talent has always been an inspiration, and it is from you that I have learned the most, including my keen sense of business intuition and when it's appropriate to follow your gut, which have recently aided in securing a promotion with my current company.
The application deadline is February 1, 2015, and all materials must be postmarked by that date.
The letter should be sent to:
University of Colorado Boulder
3100 Marine Street, Suite A122
Boulder, CO 80309-0553 USA
Please let me know if you've got too much on your plate to handle this right now. I can forward this request to Melissa or Amy, but I thought it would mean the most coming from you since you hand-picked me and encouraged me to apply with SXSW initially. Either way, I promise to catch up after the holidays and look forward to seeing you at the festival this year!
Thank you so much,
